Our ongoing Covid-19 restrictions have encouraged many people (and forced many more) to adopt online video conferencing solutions to chat with family and friends in mutual-lockdown as well conduct work-related meetings with colleagues and clients. In these days of feature-packed digital communication devices and abundant Broadband bandwidth, it seems the humble audio telephone call does not suffice.
I have certainly appreciated the benefits of online video meetings from the early days of Offline through conducting interviews and/or chatting with people on ideas and seeking advice. Indeed, this email-based Newsletter also allows me to seek and receive feedback on past and future articles and topics covered in the printed Offline Journal. However, as the late, great Bob Hoskins said back in the 1990’s BT adverts: “It’s good to talk”.
With that in mind, a few readers will be aware of a new series of group online video conversations I started earlier this month (they know because they participated!). Lasting around 45 minutes, these are a small but very useful way for me to thank and meet (albeit via video) the Subscribers who support the printed Offline Journal publication and offer them the opportunity to be part of friendly and relaxed group discussions on photography. These chats usually take place 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening and are comprised of no more than six participants - with myself and, if available, a seasoned professional photographer hogging two of those spaces. I select the participants for each chat based on interests and/or expertise but the aim is to have an interesting mix. As the three chats thus far have been deemed worth while and enjoyable by those who took part, I intend to keep them going beyond lockdown.
If you were an original subscriber to issues 3 & 4 or more recently renewed a subscription to thenext two issues of the printed Offline Journal, you will receive an invitation to one or more of these online chats via email at some point in the weeks ahead. You can of course decline the invitation but I’d urge you to at least consider trying one to meet and chat with an interesting bunch! Either way, thank you for subscribing.
What would you like the chats to cover?

I've found this interesting - I don't think I've picked up a camera in six weeks!
When not doing the domestic essentials, I've mainly been reading and doing research on the next couple of Offline issues which has allowed me to keep in touch with a few photographers.
Brian many thanks for all your imaginative work. 3 topics 1 What style/approach suits contemporary photograhic views of Wales 2 What photographically, if anything , are you all up to ? 3 What plans post lockdown ?

Hi Richard. No - thank you for being part of the Offline adventure and allowing me to feature your 'Resistance' work in the latest issue!
I'll add your three point to the list on this post (two of them under the broader Covid-19 topic). Thanks B
