TAIYE OMOKORE INTERVIEW
Photographer and EYE Festival Director Glenn Edwards had the opportunity to meet and interview Taiye Omokore recently in Cardiff Bay to learn more about the emerging Nigerian photographer’s work.
They discuss his first book ‘MY STORY IN RED’ published through Amazon and featuring work exploring his Nigerian heritage, identity and living and working in Wales.
My Story in Red is a deeply personal yet universally resonant body of work that bridges two worlds—the rich cultural history of Nigeria and the evolving landscapes of Wales. Rooted in memory, the book weaves together themes of nostalgia, belonging, and reinvention, using the symbolic language of red to connect love and loss, tradition and transformation.

Omokore has also been selected as one of the six artists recently announced in the new FFOCWS 2024 programme starting late May 2025 in Ffotogallery.

New ‘One Image’ series from Ffoton
Glasgow-based photographer Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert kicks off the first in a new 2025 series of Ffoton Wales’ ‘ONE IMAGE’ series with the story behind the cover image on the first of his new self-published photozines.
‘CLYDEBUILT I’ is the first in a 3-part series featuring Sutton-Hibbert’s photographs of shipbuilding on Glasgow’s river Clyde shot over decades. Since being made available in January those first three zines have now been joined by three more on different photography projects in recent weeks.
I spoke with Jeremy about his rich archive of work shot through the course of his career - from which the images for these new photozines have been carefully selected. In this audio clip, we discuss how he did a major tidy-up of his archive, rediscovering images and revitalising his enthusiasm to make new work - and self-publish photozines to share his photography with new audiences.
The clip above is an excerpt from our full 47 minute interview – now available to subscribers of the printed Offline Journal on their Newsletter.
You can view a range of Jeremy’s photography and purchase his zines (and prints) direct from his website.

Shuttles, Steam and Soot
A new exhibition titled ‘Shuttles, Steam and Soot: A cotton mill in Lancashire by Daniel Meadows’ is now showing in FOUR CORNERS gallery in London until 29 March 2025.
First shown back in 1978, Shuttles, Steam and Soot formed part of the then-Half Moon Photography Workshop’s radical programme of affordable, portable, plastic-encapsulated touring shows. Packed in a large box, the exhibition protected prints toured numerous galleries and community centres around the UK - reaching as far as the Shetland Islands and Germany. Eventually it got worn out and eventually lost.
Collaborating with Four Corners, Meadows helped source original negatives from his archive, now held in the Bodleian Library, to have new prints made and reproduce the original encapsulated exhibition along with the captions for each image.
Daniel has shared a BBC short film that was aired when the new exhibition launched, you can watch it for the background on the original project and the life-long friendships he formed with those he photographed. Inspiring stuff!
