CLWB FFOTO now open for business
Congratulations to Marc Lewis and Justin Rossiter on hosting the opening of the new CLWB FFOTO gallery and preview evening for Roger Tiley’s ‘BLACK COAL IN THE VALLEYS’ exhibition on the evening of Saturday 1 March.
The opening event had an impressive turnout with photographers, local artists and friends viewing the impressive number of prints and contact sheets of Tiley’s photography documenting the lives of south Wales mining communities and the 1984-85 miners' strike.

NEW BOOK by NIK ROCHE
One recent photobook from Wales that I neglected to mention is Neath -native Nik Roche’s ‘AS FAR AS THEY'RE CONCERNED WE ARE A NORMAL FAMILY’ published last month by Dewi Lewis Publishing.
We meet Tony, just as photographer Nik Roche did, living in an arctic bell tent he set up in the woods behind his own house, overlooking a once-thriving mining village in South Wales. ‘As Far As They’re Concerned We Are A Normal Family’ is about Tony’s search for those tenuous rituals we call home — a home that for Tony has always been elusively just ahead along an ever-deviating pathway, somewhere beyond the trees and rocks, shrouded in a volatile haze of recurrent visions, gut punches, bloodied cuts and cigarette smoke.

This new book follows on from his The Budgie Died Instantly (Setanta Books, 2020).
The book is available to purchase now from the publisher and on Amazon.
MURDER ON YNYS MÔN - Images by Rob Law
Following the successful BBC podcast ‘The Crossbow Killer’, producer Meic Parry approached Ynys Môn-based photographer Robert Law to contribute to a new book on the incident.
Commissioned by publisher Seren Books, Law provided 32 images for MURDER ON YNYS MÔN which investigates the unsolved questions arising from the brutal 2019 murder of pensioner Gerald Corrigan with a crossbow and with no apparent motive or explanation.
Law used his knowledge and familiarity of the island to document the remote locations involved and also offer a creative response to the brief. The book features his work for many colour plates as well as the front and rear covers.
Written by former BBC reporter Siôn Tecwyn, the MURDER ON YNYS MÔN will be officially launched in Holyhead Library this Thursday 6th March 2025. Tickets for the event are available via the link below.
