PHOTOWALKS IN ROATH PARK
Just a quick reminder that the first of two relaxed Offline PhotoWalks in Cardiff’s Roath Park will take place this coming Sunday 28 January from 10.30am until 12 noon.
This is open to anyone interested in photography who might be interested in a social meet and chat – with or without cameras. Don’t expect a guided tour or set photo brief – rather, these are opportunities for meeting others for relaxed discussion (on photography or whatever) in the fresh air.
If you’ve never been to Roath Park before, you can find more information here: www.outdoorcardiff.com/parks/roath-park
There is a Cafe by the lake which serves tea, a selection of coffees, sandwiches and snacks. Public toilets are also onsite.
If you’d like to join me, I propose meeting at the benches directly facing the iconic lake Lighthouse and spending around 1.5 hours at the lake and adjacent Gardens. The weather forecast for Sunday currently looks sans-rain but I’d suggest keeping an eye on the forecast, dressing warm and coming prepared for a shower.
The first two Roath Park Offline Photowalks will be on the following dates/times:
Sunday 28 January: 10.30am - 12 noon
Sunday 11 February: 10.30am - 12 noon
These Photowalks are free to attend, but if you’re interested in one of the dates - drop me an email at offline.journal@gmail.com as this will give me an idea of the numbers for each date.
MOHAMED HASSAN - WITNESSING WALES
I went along to the recent artist talk by photographer Mohamed Hassan - an event organised to coincide with his ‘Witnessing Wales’ exhibition showing now at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre in Cwmbran.
Mohamed’s interesting talk covered his move into photography since coming to Wales, gaining his MA in documentary photography at USW in 2023, and more recent experimentation in honing his sequencing and editing skills by producing his own photobook dummies.
The short video clip above captures part of his talk.
Witnessing Wales is running now in Gallery 1 at Llantarnam Grange and ends Saturday 3 February 2024.
See more of Mohamed’s work on his website: www.mohamedhassanphotography.com
GO HOME POLISH - new exhibition
National Museum Wales in Cardiff opens a new exhibition of photographer Michal Iwanowski’s ‘Go Home Polish’ 2018 project documenting his 1900 km walking journey between Wales and his native Poland. The work was exhibited in Ffotogallery in April 2019.
Go Home Polish opens this coming Saturday 27 January 2024 at Museum Wales in Cardiff.
