Hello again
Well, Christmas 2023 has come and gone and on the eve of 2024, I’d like to express my thanks again to you and other subscribers for your continuing support of Offline Journal this past year. Issue #012 is underway and will be published in 2024 along with a new (bumper) Offline Essay supplement - both of which you will receive as part of your valued Subscription Plus support.
Typical for the Winter period, photography exhibitions and events have slowed down but see below for information on a few things you may find of interest now and coming up in early 2024.
I hope you and yours have a peaceful and enjoyable New Year (with or without drinks) and a productive 2024 in photography.
Brian

FFOTON CONVERSATION - Pt 3
To see out 2023, the third and final part of the conversation I recorded with respected international photojournalist Steve Benbow for Ffoton Wales is now available on the website and all good Podcast players.
Listen to Steve’s conversation free on www.ffoton.wales
In 2014 myself and Pembrokeshire-based photographer Emyr Young, started Ffoton Wales in an effort to uncover photographers, working in or with links to Wales, and earning a living through photography.
Over those nine years, we’re very proud of the sixty-two ‘feature’ - and additional ten ‘Watchlist’ - conversations recorded with photographers we and others felt were producing interesting work but not receiving due attention in Wales. More are planned for 2024.
Despite the very many supportive comments on the Ffoton audio conversations (and feature videos) from people in and beyond Wales, that much appreciated support has, sadly, not translated into enough financial support to help us cover annual website hosting expenses (Ffoton has been entirely self-funded since starting). We’ve therefore decided to pull the shutters down on the current Ffoton website and move all of the Ffoton conversations over to our (free) YouTube channel and gradually make them available again, one by one, as soon as we have them converted for video. The first two conversations - Tim Collier and Keith Davies - are available now (and well worth another listen), and we hope to have everything transferred by late February. You can Subscribe on the YouTube page and click the ‘bell’ option to be notified when new materials appear. The www.ffoton.wales domain name will remain and soon redirect to the Ffoton YouTube channel.
If you would like to support our efforts in the recording and editing of new audio conversations (and videos) we have planned during 2024, we would welcome donations as small as £5, or any larger amount you feel comfortable with, by using the payment link below.
Alternatively, Ffoton have a limited few of the 2-issue sets of Ffoton zines #PORTRAITCYMRU and #URBANWALES with free postage and packing still available for just £7.50. Just use the button below. Thanks
p.s. a gentle reminder that the #portraitcymru tag is alive and well on Instagram, Threads and Twitter/X - and Ffoton would love to see your 2024 creative portrait photography tagged alongside the other 3,600 images in the set thus far!
