APRIL PHOTO BOOK FAIR @ FFOTOGALLERY

Encouraged by the response and turnout to their Photo Book Fair last October, Ffotogallery have just announced another Fair to run 12-4pm on Saturday 22nd April 2023 at their gallery in Cardiff.

I’m happy to confirm that Offline Journal will again have a table at this next event and unveil the new issue #010 on the day! Subscribers to the printed Offline Journal should also receive their copy through their letterbox at the same time.

Ffotogallery and Offline Journal have also collaborated on an associated event as part of the day’s programme – to be announced shortly. Exciting!

Ffotogallery are still interested in hearing from other publishers and/or self-publishers – although vendor table space is limited to availability.
Contact alex@ffotogallery.org if interested.

HOME: IN ANOTHER LAND in Colwyn Bay

Friday 24 February saw Oriel Colwyn host the opening for their latest main gallery exhibition – Home: In Another Land by Photographer Glenn Edwards.

Having spent decades visiting and working as a photojournalist in several countries on the African continent, this relatively new and extensive collection of work (ongoing) spans the last 6 years of Edwards’ documenting different African communities across his home country Wales – north to south.

As part of the exhibition, Edwards has included a good selection of Vanley Burkes’ black and white photographs from the 1970’s-90’s of the Caribbean communities in the English midlands to reflect the personal, social and economic life of black people as they arrived, settled and became established in British society.

Home: In Another Land runs 13 February until 15 April 2023 in Oriel Colwyn.
I think it’s one of the best photography exhibitions shown in Wales in recent months - GO SEE IT!

BERNARD MITCHELL’S ARTIST PORTRAITS

Swansea-based photographer has a selection of portrait photographs from his hefty archive on show in Brecon as part of a new group exhibition opening on St David’s Day, 1st March 2023.

The exhibition will have a formal opening in Y Gaer with Cardiff West MP Kevin Brennan 6-8pm on Friday 3 March. All welcome.

FORM - in audio form

Paul Cabuts has now released the first 3 episodes of his audio series to accompany his latest photo book ‘FORM’.

These audio materials have Paul reflecting on the places covered in his book - both on location in the Rhondda Valley and from his desk at home in west Wales. You can listen to the free audio materials via his Substack and order a copy of the book via his online store.
